1. Contact wear
Contactless regulator: as the name implies, it has no contact, because the voltage is regulated by excitation induction, so there is no contact wear, no wear components, and its structure is similar to that of a generator.
Carbon brush type voltage regulator: with contacts, it uses the carbon brush to contact the ring transformer winding surface to adjust the voltage. During the sliding process of the carbon brush, there will be wear due to contact. The structure is similar to the DC motor of portable electric tools.
2. Sparks
Carbon brush type voltage regulator: because its working mode is to use the carbon brush to slide and contact the coil surface, sparks (ARC) will be generated during this period, which will cause surge (surge) phenomenon, and the instantaneous surge will cause the control system failure of load equipment.
Contactless voltage regulator: because of its technical characteristics, there is basically no contact between contacts, so there is no spark.
3. Line loss voltage drop
Contactless voltage regulator: low line loss and voltage drop are achieved by using high magnetic beam closed slot silicon steel sheet and high purity oxygen free copper wire cladding wire, combined with high full slot wire laying technology and double-layer winding, so that the line loss and voltage drop can reach * small.
Carbon brush type voltage regulator: high line loss voltage drop ring type transformer is a single-layer multi turn winding with large line loss and high voltage drop.
4. Coil maintenance
Contactless voltage regulator: the induction coil has no wear components, and the coil has no maintenance problems
Carbon brush type voltage regulator: it needs maintenance and is very complex. The carbon brush will wear fast or slow because of its frequent use. The carbon brush needs to be replaced and maintained. If the contact surface of the ring transformer coil is worn, the arc will occur after the carbon brush is worn, resulting in uneven coil plane. During maintenance, unless the coil is reground, the carbon brush will be replaced soon after the carbon brush is replaced. Therefore, the maintenance cost of carbon brush will be very high.
5. Polarity switching
Contactless voltage regulator: when the input voltage is lower or higher than the rated voltage, there is no polarity switching problem.
Carbon brush type voltage regulator: when the input voltage is lower or higher than the rated voltage, the relay is used to switch the positive / negative polarity. When the polarity is switched, voltage drop and sudden wave will be generated. When the input voltage is in low voltage or high voltage for a long time, the use of this mode is no problem, but when the input voltage is in low voltage or high voltage frequently interleaved, it is easy to cause the fault of switching relay and transmission components.
6. Environmental pollution
Contactless voltage regulator: there are no pollutants in the structure, and the probability of environmental pollution is small.
Carbon brush type voltage regulator: as the carbon brush is mainly made of graphite in the product application, the carbon brush will cause wear in the process of use, which will produce carbon powder, and the wear situation often does not appear, which is not suitable for use in clean places.
